My Peace Lily has flowered and is scattering pollen everywhere. I think might even be giving me mild hayfever.
Clearly the only thing to do is investigate! I happen to have this microscope slide equipment in the cupboard.
So I put some pollen on a slide and mounted the cover glass (I spread the pollen out with a small paintbrush)
The result at 40x magnification is this:
Looks like they’re tiny spheroids with a sort of ribbed structure. I wonder if staining them would reveal the insides better.
Lots of blotches in the background as well. hmm, need to clean the slides better I guess.
