I find this wonderful flickr set from the US Library of Congress give a completely different perspective being in colour… Also, Nik, I don’t think much of the painting on these, being spoilt by the things you’ve shown me, but they are remote controlled and have lasers 🙂

PTP digital camera control
Woohoo – just uploaded some more of my archived code to a new project at http://code.google.com/p/pyptp/. This time it is my python PTP support library. Whats so good about this? Well, many digital cameras support the Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP). This is ostensibly for multimedia devices to exchange picture data, but also provides a standardContinue reading “PTP digital camera control”
eframe mass storage
I’ve just realised I’d never actually tried plugging the eframe into my PC. Well, it shows up as a mass storage device with all the photos etc visible on the internal storage. The "PF110.RSS" RSS binary file is visible there. Since its unlikely you’d need to change the RSS feeds themselves very much, this sounds like aContinue reading “eframe mass storage”
eframe firmware dump
… is ongoing as I type: using 6 wirewrap wires soldered to the handy breakout area on the board, and readspiflash.py from pypickit. Also, added bonus: nothing has been fried yet!
eframe ftp server
I’ve just switched the eframe project over to using the extremely nifty pyftpdlib; so much nicer now! The eframe protocol still seems a little flakey in that the eframe seems to just "give up" quite frequently. I obviously still have some subtlety to find, but the bulk of the work is done. I’m feeling loadsContinue reading “eframe ftp server”
Binaural test 2: Beltane drummers
Another short test of the binaural setup, mainly for practice at putting it on quickly and to test my new earclips. This time its the beltane drummers on the mound; I’m static, but they’re walking past us. Nicola is correct in that the recordings really need a story ("andrew goes exploring" 🙂 to be ofContinue reading “Binaural test 2: Beltane drummers”

Robotic aquatic/flying penguins
Have a look at this! They show an XBee mesh network device at some point later; not sure if its actually used as a wireless device to control the penguins or something else though…
eframe RSS working
Got the eframe’s RSS upload working now – there are two utils: encoderss.py – This converts a textual RSS feedlist (see samplerssfeeds.txt) into the binary PF110.RSS file which is uploaded to the eframe. transferrss.py – This commands the eframe to transfer the above binary file from your local FTP server. The eframe actually accesses theContinue reading “eframe RSS working”
