No progress on this over the weekend, as I was busy helping assemble a friend’s CNC cupcake 3d printer. This evening though, I’ve decided to switch to the USB function drivers for this project; the gadget ones are unmaintaned and are obviously not really a part of the android stack any more. So step #1 isContinue reading “switching to usb function”

Some progress of a sort
I’ve been busy rewriting the usb_notifier stuff so that the msm72k_udc gagdet driver can be unloaded cleanly at runtime, yet still do the necessary power notification stuff. I’ve just finished this, and it appears to work. However, the next problem is that if I actually load one of the higher level gadget drivers (e.g. g_android.ko),Continue reading “Some progress of a sort”
G1 USB host working!
I’ve just had word that (apart from a slight bug), the G1’s USB host mode is now working too; the first completely independant confimation!

HTC Hero (MSM7201) USB host mode
For the last few days I’ve been busy figuring out how to support USB host mode on the HTC hero. This may also apply to many other android devices (e.g. the G1, and possibly the Nexus One as I think it may use the same USB host silicon internally). I’ve only tested it on the Hero soContinue reading “HTC Hero (MSM7201) USB host mode”
FIMO slugs
The next part of my TV control project was to cover the TV’s IR sensor. I have an IR transmitter stuck to it, but the TV gets confused by signals from other remotes. I needed some sort of nodule to cover it, which also had a cavity in it to hold the transmitter. Additionally, itContinue reading “FIMO slugs”
Mains Power Fun!
I’d been looking for a way for my media PC to control the power of the other devices in that system (sub, amp, tv). I’d thought about X.10, but I felt that was expensive overkill. After some investigation on maplin’s website, I found these. These are RF remote controlled 4bars. Quite nifty, although I’m notContinue reading “Mains Power Fun!”
working 32wlt68 tv control solution
Here we go! First of all, my lirc configuration for the toshiba TV power button, manually adjusted to the proper NEC timings:
The TV saga continues!
I’ve been experimenting with the IR blasting TV control option. With IR blasting you don’t (normally) get any status back from the TV, so you need what is called a "discrete code" – an IR signal that either turns the TV on, or turns the TV off. An on/off toggle signal (which is what the power buttonContinue reading “The TV saga continues!”
